Mental Health Training

We have qualified instructors delivering training courses covering mental health, confidence building and other life skills.  Training For Life offers Mental Health First Aid/MHFA training via Mental Health First Aid England – the only accredited instructor training organisation in England.

All instructors have undergone rigorous, professional training and only once they have achieved sign off are they accepted into the Training For Life team.

We offer MHFA training across Eastern counties. We provide Mental Health Training courses in Ipswich, as well as across Suffolk, Norfolk and Kent. Would you like to get in touch? Click here to see our full address and contact details.

Based in Ipswich, Training for Life delivers fully accredited mental health training and mental health first aid courses to organisations and individuals across Suffolk, Norfolk & Kent.

There are several qualities that set Training for Life apart from other mental health first aid course providers, but the most notable difference is that we are a non-profit and donate all of our profits to Student Life.

With the help of our donations Student Life can continue supporting young people’s mental health throughout the Eastern Counties, offering skills development in areas such as writing, photography and filming.

Another factor that sets us apart from other mental health first aid courses is that each member of Training for Life’s team has undergone detailed training to become licensed Mental Health First Aid Instructors on MFHA England’s programme – an initiative which has been accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health.

Mental Health First Aid is an important aspect of community mental health support and Mental Health First Aid England’s mission is to train one in ten people in mental health awareness and skills to challenge stigma and recognise symptoms of mental illness and offer support in a crisis.

According to research by mental health charity Mind, one in six people in England report experiencing a common mental health problem (such as anxiety or depression) in any given week. Unfortunately, mental health services are chronically underfunded and lack the resources to support everyone, which means the responsibility falls to friends, family and colleagues to know how to help someone who’s experiencing a mental health crisis.

Every workplace adheres to first aid regulations, and employers are required under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 to “provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work”, however most of us only consider this in relation to physical illness and don’t apply the same to mental illness.

At Training for Life, our fully trained team of instructors delivers both adult and youth mental health first aid courses, as well as workplace mental health training and suicide prevention training.

On top of our professionally accredited mental health first aid courses, we also offer personal development courses, empowering those who take part in our courses with vital life skills such as public speaking and confidence building.

Whether your focus is mental health first aid for youth, adults or for workplace settings specifically, Training for Life is fully equipped to deliver structured, valuable training that teaches people how to spot the signs of mental ill health, use developed interpersonal skills to engage with at risk individuals and either prevent mental health crises or offer support when they do occur.
